Ashley J. Cerasaro-Flanagan, a full-time graduate
student and graduate teaching assistant at the University of Tennessee,
was born in Hazleton, Pa., where she resided for 21 years. She lived
in Bridgewater, N.J., for one year before relocating to Knoxville,
Tenn., in August 2007.
Ashley interned at the “Weekender,”
an alternative free weekly where she maintained two features of
the publication “Agenda” and “Flicks,” wrote
feature articles and created and implemented her own weekly column
“Shop.” Upon completion of her internship, she was hired
as a correspondent.
During her sophomore year, Ashley was selected to
be on the editorial board of her college literary magazine, “Scop.”
The following year, she was given the position of co-editor-in-chief
and managed all aspects of two editions of “Scop.”
Along with her involvement with “Scop,”
Ashley was employed as a writing tutor in the college writing center
and as a student aide in both the Institutional Advancement Department
and the Study Abroad and Honor’s Programs.
Ashley graduated magna cum laude from King’s
College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. in May 2006 where she earned a Bachelor
of Arts in English writing with a minor in mass communications.
She is currently pursuing her Master of Science in communication
and information with a concentration in journalism and electronic
media at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn.
She lives with her husband, Gerard, and their miniature
dachshunds, Dolce and Calvin.
