Super slushies

It’s back to school time, and for those undergrads
fortunate enough to be 21, it’s back-to-the-bar time as well.
Let’s face it, when you’re a poor college
student, shopping for the right bar, with the right drink, for the
right price can be just as crucial as finding that perfect first
day ensemble. It’s especially difficult for us ladies who
often prefer the “pretty” drink to a pint of Miller
Lite.
Last Thursday night just happened to be the first
“Thirsty Thursday” of my senior year, so naturally,
I was at the bar.
Desiree Cabell, bartender at Senunas’ Bar
& Grill, mentioned that owners, John and Rose Senunas, recently
rented a Margarita Man slushie machine from Gary Slusser. Ready
for something new, I set aside my Midori Sour and ordered up a Strawberry
Daiquiri. One sip and I was sold.
If ever there was a drink to taste non-alcoholic,
this was it.
Talk about not knowing what hit you.
A nice alternative to beer or mixed drinks, a 10-oz.
glass will cost you $4. Stop by on Thursday nights and indulge for
only $3. Manager Dave Schrebenco is excited about Senunas’
newest edition. He informed me that they will run the drinks as
long as they can and feels that the Margarita Man will fare well
despite the approach of winter. A variety of flavors will be alternated
on a weekly basis, such as: Dreamsicle, Pina Colada, Rum Runner
and Margarita.
These yummy super slushies are available at various
nightspots around NEPA, so ask your friends where the closest place
is to you to try one. For downtown students, Senunas’ Bar
& Grill is located at 135 N. Main Street in Wilkes-Barre.
